The finding
Employ Inc.'s 2026 Hiring Benchmarks report draws on real hiring data from 6,640 customers across three applicant tracking systems. In 2025, the average time to fill a role was 63.5 days, down from 67.7 the year before. The average time to hire — the stretch a candidate actually experiences, from application to offer — was 46.2 days, slightly up from 45.7.
Two things follow. Hiring is getting faster on the employer's side and very slightly slower on yours. And a single application is not a short wait; it is most of two months.
